END ZONE +10 YDL SIDELINE TARGET Q R

What it teaches.

Inside the +10, the field shrinks and zones get crowded. The fade route exploits the only remaining space: the back corner of the end zone. With a tall receiver and a back-shoulder throw, this is the highest-percentage touchdown call in the 7/8 division.

Step by step.

  1. Receiver lines up tight to the sideline at the +10 yard line.
  2. Receiver runs a fade — vertical with a slight outward angle toward the back corner of the end zone.
  3. Coach (acting as QB) throws a back-shoulder ball — high and to the receiver's back shoulder.
  4. Receiver tracks the ball, adjusts, and catches with one foot in-bounds.
  5. Run from both corners of the end zone.

What to watch for.

Progress the drill.

Corner route
Same drill, but the route is a 12-yard corner instead of a fade. Different concept, similar geometry.
Fade-stop
Fade route, but the receiver stops at the goal line if the ball is short. Adjustment skill.
Back-shoulder only
Coach throws ALL back-shoulder. Receiver must adjust on every throw.
